A new Xbox Wireless Controller design has been introduced, based on the popular Xbox One Shadow series designs that were first released in 2016. The Xbox Wireless Controller Gold Shadow Special Edition has a matte gold finish that fades to black from top to bottom. The Xbox Gold Shadow controller will be available for a limited period beginning in mid-October, but pre-orders are now open.
Xbox enthusiasts will remember the Shadow line of Xbox One
wireless controllers released during the previous console generation. The
Copper Shadow and Dusk Shadow controllers were released in 2016 and featured a
gradient effect with the color fading to black. Over the next three years, Xbox
would produce a slew of new Shadow controllers, including the Dawn, Ocean, and
Volcano models. A trio of Phantom controllers were also launched, replacing the
Shadow line's black gradient with a translucency gradient.
It's been over three years since Microsoft introduced the
last Phantom controller, the most latest of the gradient controller designs.
Now, Xbox is reintroducing the design for the Xbox Series X/S. The Xbox
Wireless Controller Gold Shadow Special Edition has a silky gradient of matte
gold to deep black that runs from the top to the bottom of the controller. The
Gold Shadow isn't one of Xbox's best-looking controller designs, with black
buttons, joysticks, and triggers and a gold hybrid d-pad.
While the name of the new Gold Shadow controller suggests
that its availability would be limited, it's unclear whether this is true. It
could be a Limited Edition that lasts for a while. The Gold Shadow controller
will be available at most major retailers on October 17th. It will cost $69.99,
which is the typical pricing for Xbox controllers with more complicated
designs. Pre-orders for the Gold Shadow controller are expected to begin today.
Aside from the special coloration, the Xbox Gold Shadow
controller is identical to regular Xbox Wireless Controllers. This is not a Microsoft
Xbox Elite controller. It does, however, support both wireless and Bluetooth,
and it works with the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, as well as PC, iOS, and
Android devices.
Xbox constantly introduces new Xbox controller designs,
providing Xbox players with a varied range of outstanding controller models to
pick from. The Xbox Design Lab also allows Xbox users to create their own
designs. If the Gold Shadow is popular, Xbox may introduce the Shadow gradient
as a customization option to the Xbox Design Lab. For the time being, Xbox
gamers can purchase the Gold Shadow.
